Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked on projects with award-winning director, actors, and producers for most of her professional career. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney Digital Television's channels. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford's last part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Her two-season stint on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first big part. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character in the role of Essie. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
